Yellow sand from China over Kobe

Posted by симо on 2008/03/12

The fine sand is carried by the winds from early spring through the summer from the deserts Gobi (in Mongolia) and Takla Makan (in China), accross the Sea of Japan, and over the main Japanese islands.

Yellow sand clouds have been detected as far into the Pacific as the US, and over an area from Alaska to California, and have been getting stronger over the last decade. Last year was the worst, and it doesn’t look that this year will be any different.
